Trailer Park Proyects Presents: 2 Trailer, 2 Artists, 2 Solo Exhibitions - Pedro Velez and Alejandro "Saki" Sacarello

TTP is excited to announce that after a small hiatus we are coming back strong with two simultaneous solo shows in 2 trailers located at the Distrito T-Mobile adjacent to the Puerto Rico Convention Center. Pedro Velez and Saki Sacarello will each have up their individual shows. We will have 2 Trailers set up face to face at the entrance of Distrito T-Mobile (Toro Verde Entrance).

"Jardín Secreto" - Solo Exhibition Pedro Velez

Pedro Velez will have his first solo show titled: “Jardín Secreto”, His first solo show since 2020 when he presented “Emotional Hurricanes, Political Earthquakes, Quiet Protests, Neurotic Tweets” at Liliana Bloch Gallery in Dallas. Velez has just been awarded a NALAC fund for the arts grant to produce art in Isabela, Puerto Rico. He has a BA from Universidad del Sagrado Corazón in Puerto Rico and received his MFA at SAIC in 1999. Velez was included in the Whitney Biennial 2014, and the historical survey Net Art Anthology organized by Rhizome in 2019. In 2022 he was awarded a Kone Foundation Grant. Currently he is participating in “Arrivals and Departures: Migratory experience in Contemporary Puerto Rican art”, curated by Laura Bravo, at CUNY’s HEH Gallery in New York.

His work has always been controversial. Corruption, partisan politics, injustice, coercion and morality have been recurring themes in his work. In recent years his new body of paintings have been directly influenced by Pre Raphaelite collection of El Museo de Ponce and they encapsulate how our intimacy is disrupted and influenced by our identity, cultural heritage, political and digital selves.

Dreaming the Dream - Solo Exhibition Alejandro Saki Sacarello

Alejandro "Saki" Sacarello presents his first solo show titled: "Dreaming the Dream". Sacarello graduated form the Escuela de Artes Plasticas in San Juan, PR. Soon after he developed his own alternative space named Amor Fuego (@tuamoryofuego) where he exhibited some of todays top latin american up and comers like Kivan Quinones, Emma Rivera, Angel Borroto, Alberto Zayas Montilla, Armig Santos to name a few.

Sacarellos works have always been fun and enjoyable as he presents us with typographical works that contain words or phrases that relate to our everyday life with thougths and ideas a lot of us have but never say out loud. The sarcastic and satirical undertone makes the works funny but more importantly they make you stop and think about the text inlayed in the canvas. As Sacarello has grown, I've seen his works mature with him. He just recently became a first time father. He brought life to earth and also lost someone really important in his life as well, which sparked an existensialism thought process that he has incorporated in his new works created for his show.

We hope you can all come and see these pop up shows that will be open to everyone on May 26-28 at Distrito T-Mobile.

See you there.

Jose Morales at Trailer Park Proyects

Late post to document the last exhibition of Trailer Park Proyects on December 2015. This exhibition was special because I got to exhibit my favorite artists and also a dear friend and was one of my top goals when I started TPP. It was a great ending to the first chapter in the Gallery’s book.

After a 1 year hiatus, TPP is proud to announce the most recent exhbition by Puertorrican artist living and working in NYC, the one and only Jose Morales.

This exhibition was designed and created by Morales as a site specific project in line wth the TPP’s only regulation which is everything sold must be under $500 to ensure everyone has access to buy and collect art.

Morales (B. 1948, San Juan, PR) is one of the most known, respected and beloved artist on the Island. He left Puert Rico in the 70’s and established himself in NYC where he has worked during all these years.

In the last two decades he has concentraed in showing his works at Museums and large exhibition spaces among them the MAPR, MAC and numerous cultural centers as well as Educational spaces like the Sacred Heart University, Interamerican University and la Liga de Arte.

Considered the artists artist, he is a prolific artist that dominates drawing, painting, installation, collages, mixed media and basically all disciplines of the plastic arts. We can see his influence in a lot of the works on the newer generation.

More than a pleasure, its an honor for us at TPP to be able to show the work of such an accomplished artist whose place is cemented in the Puerto Rico Art History.

The series consists of 20 mixed media drawings in an edition of 3 each signed and numbered by the artist. The price per work is $99.99 so everyone can get a piece for under $100.

There is a 5 drawing limit per person for this exhibition.

The exhibition will rrun from December 18-29, 2015. Please follow is on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for more information and on locations where we will be exhibiting.

Thanks always for your support. Hope to see you there.

ESCO - Limited Edition Print

After a few years of hiatus on the project, we decided to restart our limited edition prints and the first print is finally here.

Gerardo Cloquell (ESCO) is a graphic designer, muralist and creator of some of the best drawing in the Island. His precise line and minimalist color palette make contemplating his complex works a mindblowing experience. He is part of El Corografico with whom he has travelled the world exhibiting their art and leaving their mark.

The print titled “Allá por la serranía” which was a design idea he had for a long time in his haed and never had the opportunity arise to work on it. It was inspired by the fauna of Puerto rican country farms and features a rooster which is one of the most popular animals in our culture. An animal that can be both docile or a fighting machine which used to be a national sport it is also the team name and the logo of the University of Puerto Rico.

As usual prints will be hand printed this time by a new generation of printmakers Kristal Juan and Fraixa Albizu we are very excited to be working and collaborating with them as our new master printers and look forward to creating new awesome prints with them.

Prints will be an edition of 50 with 5 Artists Proof

Unfourtunately the art materials costs keep rising. I have had to price the new series of prints at $80 each instead of our regular $50. Again art materials have doubled in the past few years and this was in part why the limited edition prints project was placed on hold but I feel the need for great artwork at affordable prices is something that is always needed in the art scene.

Hope you love this print as much as I do.

Contestaciones - One day show in Honor of Papo Colo and collaboration with MoMa PS1

After a one year hiatus, Trailer Park Proyects is proud to present the collective exhibition Contestaciones (answers) which are a group of 12 works from different artists which are a direct resposnse to a socio-political problem happening at that space and time yet all of the works are relevant today as we can see that nothing changes.

We have been invited to be part of the activities celebrating and honoring Puerto Rico's leading performing artists and his long career which was presented at MoMa PS1 in 2016. Colo lived and worked in NYC for decades,  established himslef as one of the best artists of the performance artists and we are proud and happy his work is being shown to a larger audience.

Works from Carlos Raquel Rivera, Jose Rosa, Rafael Miranda, Karlo Ibarra, Omar Velazquez, Nelson Sambolin,  Aslan 1, Aby Ruiz, Jose ortiz, Carlos Osorio and Roberto Yiyo Tirado. The works were selected based on them being Editions (multiples) where they would reach more people. A lot of the exhibited works are Carteles which were propaganda that was pasted in walls (old school graffiti) for everyone and anyone to see.

This time we will be collaborating with Art gallery El Cuadrado Gris which opened their doors in time of need. Our Trailer is not working properly and even though we tried renting one, the rental company could not assure me a truck for the day of the event January 8th. So, Ozzie Forbes and curator Anna Astor Blanco invited me to exhibit at theor space by handing me on of their walls as they are also participating in the activity and have their own exhibit going on. A special shoutout to my always reliable friend and artist Rafael Miranda for helping me make this possible.

The works will be shown at 455 calle Tito Rodriguez (previously known as Calle 13) in Santurce Puerto Rico near La Casita Blanca Restaurant. For more information or to make an appointment please call Ozzie Forbes at 787-564-0423.

Exhibition will be up until March.

TPP Presents: Madeleine Finley's first solo exhibition "Concave".

After a 6 months hiatus, Trailer Park Proyects is back and ready to continue bringing young emerging and established artists to the new breed of collectors making works available as usual for under the $500 budget.

This time we will do the opening of Madeleine's works in the parking lot of the newest art space in Puerto Rico called Matadero in charge of Jorge Fusaro. Gallery is working in the same line as TPP showing young contemporary artists. The Gallery is located in 919 Ave. Escorial suite 1, San Juan, PR. You can visit and like their Facebook Matadero Art and see the map on how you can get there. They will be opening "Nosotros, Los Otros" an exhibition of two great local artists Aby Ruiz and Admin Torres which promises to be a great show. SHOW OPENING NIGHT on FEBRUARY 6th at 7:00pm

This time we are presenting on her first solo exhibition, Washington based artist Madeleine Finley with her show titled "Concave". Finley got her BFA at the School of Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) which has a long standing connection and tradition of Puertorican artists who come study abroad. Some of our most important contemporary artists have studied, Arnaldo Roche, Nathan Budoff, Angel Otero, Sebastian Vallejo, Manuel Rodriguez and currently working on his MFA is Omar Velazquez are some.

Finley will show 10 oil and oil stick drawings. The works on paper are about the interaction of color with a mundane subject. They’re rooted in the formal traditions of painting and drawing, and branch off into a more complex arrangement of colors and marks. The compositions are taken from hard, gritty, paintings of the 16th Century. The tone of the work is different in each individual piece, and is to be told through the expression of the marks. The works are preliminary ideas and drawings that later get turned into large, expressive,  Oil paintings.

If you want to learn more about Madeleine and her work be sure to visit her webpage www.madeleinefinley.com and follow her on Instagram @madeleinefinley sonyou can see what she is working on and her process.
